More information about Creating Life Story Theatre: A Guide for Applied Theatre Practitioners
The book provides a hands-on guide to working alongside people to creatively explore and share their life experiences through theatre and the arts.
The handbook offers practical exercises and guiding principles for ethical and meaningful creative life story work. It explores co-creation, ownership, and consent - ensuring that people feel supported and in control of how their stories are expressed.
As well as exploring Re-Live’s theatre work the book also looks at adapting creative life story work beyond the stage - into online life story theatre performances, health and social care settings and life story comics.
Creative life story work can bring people together, build compassion, reduce loneliness and isolation, and amplify stories and experiences in ways that foster connection and understanding. Whether you’re new to this field or have years of experience, we hope this book offers useful tools, thoughtful reflections, exercises, and ideas for you to take away and build your own creative life story project in a way that feels authentic and meaningful for all involved.
It is published by Bloomsbury as part of their Methuen Drama imprint in hardback, paperback and ebook. Copies can be ordered direct from Bloomsbury.
