Overview:
This event is part of a series of free online sessions accompanying the launch of Re-Live’s new book, Creating Life Story Theatre: A Guide for Applied Theatre Practitioners.
Join us for a two-hour session, facilitated by Re-Live’s Artistic Director, Karin Diamond, introducing the core principles and skills of facilitating creative life story work. This session is for arts practitioners, health and social care professionals, researchers, and anyone interested in facilitating meaningful and ethical life story work in creative, community, and care settings.
This session will cover:
The role of a life story facilitator – establishing trust, presence, and responsiveness when working alongside people and their stories.
Case studies that share core facilitation techniques – including deep listening, open questions, affirmations, and reflections to support participants in sharing their stories.
Managing group dynamics – creating an inclusive space, balancing voices, and ensuring participants feel heard and valued.
The second half of the session will include a live Q&A, offering space to reflect together, ask questions, and discuss practical considerations for life story facilitation.
