Introduction to Creative Life Story Work

Summary:

A free two-hour session introducing the key principles and practice of creative life story work.

Overview:

This event is part of a series of free online sessions accompanying the launch of Re-Live’s new book, Creating Life Story Theatre: A Guide for Applied Theatre Practitioners.

Join us for a two-hour session, facilitated by Re-Live’s Artistic Director, Karin Diamond, introducing the key principles and practice of working alongside people and their stories. This session is for arts practitioners, health and social care professionals, researchers, and anyone interested in creative life story work and how it can support wellbeing, build connections, and create meaningful change.

This session will cover:

  • Applications of creative life story work across different art forms - such as theatre, comics, and songwriting - and in various settings, including care homes, community spaces, and online

  • Case studies that share the impact of this work - on the person sharing their story, as well as audiences and decision makers

  • Examples of the ripple effect of life story work - how sharing lived experience can inspire community activism, influence service design and shape policy

The second half of the session will include a Q&A, offering space to reflect together, ask questions, and explore emerging ideas.

Date & Time:

Wed, 18 Jun 2025 10:00 - 12:00 BST
