Dementia Awareness
As the number of people living with dementia increases, public perception and understanding of dementia needs to grow if we are to create a dementia friendly society. This course provides an introduction to dementia along with effective communication skills that can support a person living with dementia to go about their daily activities.
The training will
- Provide a powerful introduction to the world of dementia
- Give trainees a compassionate insight into how people living with dementia may be feeling
- Equip trainees with specific skills to communicate clearly and calmly with people with dementia
- Develop trainees confidence in how to manage brief contacts with people with dementia and their families.
Aimed at: Frontline staff in public services, including banks, retail, small businesses, transport, hospitals and health centres.
Half day course – 2.5 hours
