Introduction to Life Story Work

Life Story work is an exciting and emergent approach which celebrates the individual person and their unique life story. Its potential has been recognised by the Department of Health. This experiential training course will introduce you to life story work and help you develop new compassionate perspectives on the people you work with. 

The training will:

  • Explore the therapeutic benefits of life story work in a group and one to one setting

  • Guide you in the skills and techniques of eliciting stories and facilitating memory work

  • Enhance your awareness of the ethical challenges of life story work, including confidentiality, informed consent, agenda setting, respect and dignity

  • Provide an opportunity to try out new skills in a supportive environment

Aimed at: Care practitioners, carers, artists, community workers, volunteers and anyone with an interest in finding out more about a person’s life story
