What to Expect
The Creative Age showcases the rich diversity of older people’s experiences, celebrating different cultures and communities through spoken word, music, singing, and dance. Featuring participants from Wales, Brazil, the USA, South Africa, and more, this performance challenges ageism by highlighting the lived experiences of elders worldwide.

Performance Highlights
New York: LGBTQIA+ seniors will perform Rainbow Stories, a live dance piece celebrating inclusivity, resilience, and self-expression.
Wales: Re-Live's Company of Elders will be sharing their life stories.
Brazil: Older adults living with aphasia will perform therapeutic clowning, using humour and nonverbal expression to support health and wellbeing.
South Africa: The Abahlali Base Freedom Park Elders Soup Kitchen group will perform a series of songs, celebrating intergenerational bonds and community wellbeing.

Join the Debate
The event is accessible worldwide with live transcription in over 30 languages and British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation.
Following the performance, have your say and share your insights with us during a 30-minute post-show discussion between audience members and performers.

Help Us Spread the Word
We’d greatly appreciate your support in sharing The Creative Age with your network - colleagues, friends, family, and the older people you work alongside or support. Join us in raising awareness of the courage and resilience of older people, and help us celebrate the International Day of Older Persons!

"We are delighted to host this international event and proud that Wales plays a leading role in Arts in Health practice, particularly in advancing the prevention agenda. Join us on 1st October to meet older people from around the world, using the arts to celebrate culture, community and care. It is sure to fill your heart.” Karin Diamond, Re-Live Artistic Director

METHUEN DRAMA TO PUBLISH RE-LIVE LIFE STORY THEATRE HANDBOOK IN 2025

We are delighted to announce that we have co-authored a book with dear friend Clark Baim about co-creating Life Story Theatre and the history of Re-Live, which will be published by Methuen Drama in February 2025.

Creating Life Story Theatre: A Guide for Applied Theatre Practitioners is now available for pre-order here.

The book is written with an emphasis on co-creation and co-production, placing people's lived experiences at the heart of the work. Alongside those interested in theatre, this book can support practitioners working with people's lived experiences in health, social care, and in the community. It highlights the growing evidence for the arts in promoting health, preventing illness, and supporting community integration.

As we get closer to the publication of the book, there will be launch events and other exciting news in future updates.
